Portugal is the 3º safest country in the world


The 2019 Global Peace Index puts Portugal in third place among the safest countries in the world. In 2013, Portugal ranked 18th among 163 countries.

According to the 13th Annual Global Peace Index (GPI) report prepared by the Institute for Economy and Peace in Sydney, Australia, Europe remains the most peaceful region in the world, with a slight improvement.

The rise of Portugal in the ranking accounts for improvements in the country in 12 of the 23 indicators used in the Global Peace Index to draw up the list.

In terms of international politics, Portugal appears as one of the three countries in which the perception of American leadership has deteriorated more – alongside Belgium and Norway. A fall that exceeds 40 percentage points.
